Library Cards

Library Card Application (in pdf)

  • Adults must present valid Township address or proof of employment located in the Township.
  • Children under age 18 must have the signature of a parent/guardian who will be financially responsible for materials borrowed on the child's card.
  • Montgomery County residents who do not have a home library in their township or borough may apply for a Montgomery County - Norristown library card through Upper Dublin.

Materials Use Policy

Your LIBRARY CARD opens up a world of opportunity. Use it to check out materials from the library’s collection of over 110,000 items, including bestsellers, biographies, nonfiction, mysteries, science fiction, paperbacks, children’s picture and chapter books, teen literature, graphic novels, large print books, magazines, audiobooks, music, videos, DVDs and more. Your Library Card also allows you to request or check out materials from libraries within Montgomery County, throughout Pennsylvania, even from across the globe!

  • Any resident of Upper Dublin is eligible to register for a free borrower’s card, renewable every 3 years. The library will require i.d. with the name & current mailing address of the applicant for new registration & renewals. Examples of acceptable forms of i.d. are: driver’s license, government i.d. utility bill, lease, property tax bill or bank statement. Replacement fee: $1.00. Subsequent replacements: $3.00
  • Cardholders are responsible for all materials checked out on their cards, including overdue fines & fees for loss or damage. Failure to return materials & outstanding fines may result in suspension of borrowing privileges.
  • Those under 18 may obtain a library card with the signature of a parent/guardian who will be financially responsible for any materials borrowed on the youth’s card.

Loan Periods

  • 7 days - videos, DVDs, children’s holiday books
  • 14 days - new adult fiction, magazines, pre-loaded audiobooks
  • 21 days - all other materials
  • Reference and some special materials do not circulate

Loan Restrictions

  • 3 books per subject per card from the UDP Library collection*.
  • 5 videos/DVDs per card from the UDP Library collection*. Adult collection videos/DVDs must be checked out on an adult library card.

*Materials on hold from other libraries do not count towards this maximum

Renewals

Most items may be renewed for one additional loan period unless the item is on hold or reserve. Renew in person, by phone or through the Library’s website. Phone and website renewals require your library card number and the titles and/or barcodes of the items to be renewed. Website renewal also requires a password that must be requested at the library.

Overdue Fines

  • Juvenile Collection Item: 15¢ a day. Max per item: $8.00. Magazine max: $6.00.
  • Adult Collection Item: 25¢ a day. Max per item: $12.00. Magazine max: $6.00.
  • DVD/videos: $1.00 per day. Maximum per item: $10.00
  • Replacement cost of item + $6.00 processing fee. Additional fees for lost /damaged packaging may apply.

Materials borrowed from the UDP Library may be returned to other participating Pennsylvania Access libraries, but the cardholder to whom the books are charged is responsible for those materials until they are actually in the possession of the Upper Dublin Public Library.

  • PA Power Library or UDPL Catalog 1-5 pages: FREE;
  • Floppy Disks $1.00/ea;
  • Earbuds $2.00/ea.

One of the greatest assets the Upper Dublin Public Library can boast is our volunteers. Our volunteers are essential in helping the library run smoothly and efficiently. Volunteering at the library is also a great way to get connected to your community. The Library Board creates service standards and policy and recommends funding for the Library. The Board meets the 3rd Wednesday of every month at 7:30p. Meetings are open to the public.

Directions to the Library

From Philadelphia and 476 North (Blue Route): Take the Blue Route (476 North) to Pennsylvania Turnpike East. Follow directions from Pennsylvania Turnpike (below).

From Pennsylvania Turnpike: Exit at Fort Washington (exit 339). From the tollbooth, proceed on exit under Route 309 underpass. The road curves to the right and becomes Pennsylvania Avenue. Proceed on Pennsylvania Avenue to the T intersection at Bethlehem Pike. Turn right on Bethlehem Pike. Proceed on Bethlehem Pike through the next light at Highland Avenue. The second road to the right after Highland is Loch Alsh Avenue. There is a Rite Aid drug store on the right. Turn right on Loch Alsh. Proceed on Loch Alsh under the Route 309 underpass. After the underpass, the first right is into the library parking lot (at the Upper Dublin Township Building). The library faces the parking lot.

From Route 309 Expressway going North: Exit at Fort Washington exit. Proceed on exit road under the Route 309 underpass. The road curves to the right and becomes Pennsylvania Avenue. Proceed on Pennsylvania Avenue to the T intersection at Bethlehem Pike. Turn right on Bethlehem Pike. Proceed on Bethlehem Pike through the next light at Highland Avenue. From Route 309 Expressway going South: Exit at the Butler Pike/Ambler exit. At bottom of ramp turn right on Butler Pike. Proceed to the first traffic light at Susquehanna Road. Turn left onto Susquehanna Road. The next traffic light is at Fort Washington Avenue; turn right. The first right is Loch Alsh Avenue (just past the Upper Dublin High School). The library is across the street from the high school in the Upper Dublin Township Building. Turn left into the third driveway of the Township Building into the parking lot. The library faces the parking lot.

From Bethlehem Pike going North: Going North on Bethlehem Pike through Erdenheim and Flourtown, cross the railroad bridge by the Fort Washington train station. Proceed on Bethlehem Pike through two lights (at Pennsylvania Avenue and at Highland Avenue). The second road to the right after Highland is Loch Alsh Avenue. There is a Rite Aid drug store on the right. Turn right on Loch Alsh. Proceed on Loch Alsh under the Route 309 underpass. After the underpass, the first right is into the library parking lot (at the Upper Dublin Township Building). The library faces the parking lot.

From Bethlehem Pike going South: Proceed on Bethlehem Pike through the traffic light at Butler Pike in Ambler. The second road to the left (the first road is easy to miss) is Loch Alsh. There is a Rite Aid drugstore on the left. Turn left on Loch Alsh. Proceed on Loch Alsh under the Route 309 underpass. After the underpass, the first right is into the library parking lot (at the Upper Dublin Township Building). The library faces the parking lot.

From Susquehanna Road (Abington area): Proceed west (or north) on Susquehanna Road. After the intersection of Susquehanna Road and Limekiln Pike (Rte. 152) by the PA Turnpike underpass, proceed on Susquehanna Road through three traffic lights (at Virginia/Dreshertown, Camphill, and Pinetown/Broad (Mondauk Common Park). The next traffic light is Fort Washington Avenue. Turn left on Fort Washington Avenue. Turn right onto Loch Alsh Avenue just after the Upper Dublin Senior High School (on the right). The library is in the Upper Dublin Township Building, the first building on the left. Turn left into the third Township Building driveway, the one that goes to the parking lot. The library faces the parking lot.
